We were supposed to go home today...

We were set to be home tonight, but Dominic spiked a fever and his hemoglobin is very low and so he needs a blood transfusion.  As you can imagine this news is a real blow, I miss my family so much.  They are trying to see if insurance will cover a med-flight to the hospital back at home.  At least that way I can see the children and take turns being with Dominic with Mark.  Please pray for our family at this time, thank you!

  1. Oh, I'm so sorry. Boston is so very far from Wisconsin. It must feel awful to your maternal heart. Prayers that the insurance stuff will cover a med flight home.

  2. I've been trying to call you all weekend--I know you are very busy, so don't call. Just wanted an update.

sorry to hear about this--yet another hurdle to overcome. I know it's hard to hear right now, but it's better that this happened now rather than your flight home. I've been praying for Dominic's safety for his health for your trip home, so maybe this is God's answer.

Once he has that transfusion, he will feel so much perkier! It's worth the wait, believe me. But I will pray that you can get home this week. Give Dominic a kiss and hug for me.

  7. I will crank up the praying.

This is God's reminder to the blogging world that if we meet the criteria, we should donate blood.

I hate that so much (in general) depends of insurance companies.

I'm sorry you miss your family. I am sure they miss you too.

  8. Oh, no Mary, we're praying....I know it's hard, but if you'd gone and he'd gotten the fever then, on the way home, well, God's grace is here even in disappointing news.

  9. Oh... I'm so sorry to hear this! Don't be discouraged, though. Jamie's right, it's better they caught it when he was in the hospital. Poor baby, though and poor Mommy. We will continue to pray. Much love from our family to yours. (and kisses from Ava) xo

  12. Dominic Pio, our little hero.

The BADGERS are missing you, Mr. Dominic. Time to wear a cheese head! Time to go home and smell the brats on the grill. Little "mistah", we don't want you to adopt a darling--but geographically wrong Boston accent.

    On WISCONSIN!

Time to get on a plane and get off the East Coast and into the Mid-West, handsome boy.
Prayers for a speedy recovery and a speedy trip HOME!

  13. Mary,
Dominic and your family specially in our nightly prayers. Can you keep holy water near him and bless him ever so often, saying, "By this holy water and thy precious blood, was away his suffering (sickness), O Lord. " Maybe even try and have him drink some at different times of the day, or dab some on his wounds. Also blessing his room each night before bed....
    God love you all.
    Mary

  14. Hey Mary -- this is Lazywife's old college roommate. Just wanted to stop in and let you know that my five-year-old who refuses to so much as do the Sign of the Cross, reminds me every night after bedtime prayers to pray for your Dominic "that he gets better and gets to go home." I have to say the actual words, of course, but I'm thinking it still counts as her prayer :o). Also, since Meg had visited me a week before the surgery, it was fresh on my mind the following week when I stopped into Adoration. I wrote a quick anonymous prayer request note and left it there and the next weekend the priest had added Dominic's name to the list of sick in the intercessions at all of the weekend Masses. He's been on the list every week since! So, a parish in Springfield Ohio is remembering you too. God bless you all~ Liz

  15. Why didn't I think it write it in my parish's prayer intention book???
It's so amazing that the little children of commentators are remembering to pray for Dominic. Maybe because they relate to small and young people and their prayerful upbringing.
